We strive to be better in all respects of our business:
- Better raw material-means we use the highest grade cable and connectors. It means we have cables with unsurpassed shielding and sturdy construction. Also, we often use silver in the conductor material. Silver is more conductive than copper (and gold) and will always outperform copper-only cables.
- Better design-means we design our cables to MAXIMIZE your audio/video experience. For video, we provide you with the most detailed and vivid picture your display can reproduce. For audio, we provide you with detail and soundstaging that brings new great sonic experiences for both home theater and home audio.
- Better service-means we treat our customers well both before and after the sale. We learned early on that if we treat our customers better than they expect, ship their orders quickly, and deliver a product that exceeds their expectations, we'll have customers for life. A large part of our business is repeat customer who continue to come back for their cables. When they are not ordering themselves, they are telling their friends that BetterCables.com is the place to go for high-performance cables.
Absolutely! We know there are lots of choices for cables, and we remove the guesswork. Our 30-day Satisfaction Guarantee gives you time to convince yourself that nobody makes better cables than we do. This guarantee is seldom used, but it's there if you need it.
We don't make specific claims against other manufacturers, but we will say a few general things:
- We build and price our cables without much regard to our competitor's cables. We do not have multiple levels (e.g. good, better, best, etc.). When we have one level of a cable type, it means we have chosen it to compete with any cable out in the marketplace.
- Our thousands of customers have done many comparisons for us. They have compared ours against virtually every manufacturer and time and time again they come to the same conclusion->ours are BETTER!
Discriminating customers who want the maximum performance from their equipment. These customers include: high end home theater customers, high end audio customers, magazine editors who need the best for their reference systems, audio/video/home theater websites who need the best for their reference systems, post-production studios, universities, video game development companies, speaker manufacturers' listening rooms, high end manufacturers' demo rooms, high end audio video tradeshow booths who need to make their products shine. Not to mention the tens of thousands of cables we send out each year to "average" consumers who have done their homework when it comes to getting the best cables.
Silver is a better (and much more expensive) conductor than copper. All Silver Serpent® and Blue Truth cables use either Silver/Copper hybrid or pure Silver in their design to offer the highest performance.
Usually the people asking this question are not comparing apples to apples. Many cables are built with inferior raw material including the conductors, shielding and termination. Many cables will not last with time. They break down mechanically and electrically over time. They can suffer from things like compound migration where the insulation starts to decompose and change its shape over time-negatively affecting the electrical properties such as impedance. The cheaper cables often use low-grade copper and certainly don't use silver. Our cables are a relative bargain given their performance and materials.
This is another question we often get. Many times customers who buy our products try them against other more expensive cables and are shocked at the price/performance we offer. The prices are lower than comparable cables because we are both the manufacturer and the retailer of the cables. We do not have many levels between manufacturing and selling to the end-user. In addition we are highly efficient in our manufacturing and assembly processes.
We constantly get reports from our customers saying YES! Comments like: "I couldn't believe how much sharper my tv looked", "I did an A/B test with [Company X] and you guys blew it away", and "I heard things I never heard before with my other cables". Because the differences are so noticeable, our return rate is VERY VERY small.
Generally speaking, when you have the choice between toslink (optical) and digital coax, the digital coax sounds better. Both carry a digital signal, but the optical signal goes through 2 extra conversions (electrical->light and light->electrical). The optical connection has shown to have more jitter problems.
Yes, but they are the same price as the next "standard" size up (e.g. a 10 meter cable would be the same price as a 12 meter cable). The custom length cable is also non-returnable under the 30-day Satisfaction Guarantee. It may also add to the time it takes to build. Currently, we cannot custom make lengths for the dvi and hdmi cables. If you would like a custom length, please call us.
Component video is also called color-difference (Y/Pb/Pr). It is a 3-channel signal usually found on DVD players and high-definition satellite receivers. Composite video is a one-channel video (standard "yellow" video cable). RGB is a 5-channel (red/green/blue/horizontal sync/vertical sync) signal often found on outputs of video processors/scalers and projectors-although many projectors now accept both RGB and component video. If you get confused, call us.
This is a professional-grade connector found on higher-end video processors, plasma displays and projectors. It is a twist-on "locking" video connector as opposed to the RCA connector found on most consumer equipment.
The spade is a "U"-shaped connector that you untwist the speaker binding post cap, put the spade around the speaker thread and screw the cap back down. The opening on our spades fit all binding posts that accept spades. The banana plug simply plugs into the hole in the back of the binding post cap without having to loosen the cap. Double check to see which type of connector your speaker and amplifier will accept.
